Passing Through
This quarter, I learnt and was astounded by how coding works and how these tags become something. I was quite interested in how individuals create portfolios, autobiographies, and websites in general. And now the curiosity has faded, and coding is both difficult and simple to grasp. There is one week left before the end of the quarter. In this quarter, I've finally figured out how to manage the pressure.
Luisa from Encanto once said, "Pressure like a drip that will never stop. Pressure that'll tip 'till you just go pop." This is due to having a buddy from SMC back in December and her failure to adhere to the weekly submission of answer sheets timetable. She only passes what she can achieve in the allotted time; everything she doesn't finish will be passed in the following submission. It reminds me of a song entitled Passing Through by Kaden MacKay which has the first lyrics: "Can't the future just wait? Canβt the deadlines come fashionably late? I could push every goal back. Take control back. If theyβd roll back the rate."
I recognized that I had been too hard on myself over the previous quarter and school year of online classes. Everything must be completed on schedule and to perfection. But Luisa also said βBut wait, if I could shake the crushing weight of expectations, would that free some room up for joy or relaxation, or simple pleasure? Instead, we measure this growing pressure keeps growing, keep going.β So I copied her way and accepted being flawed, being late, and not forcing myself to perform several tasks assigned by the school in a short amount of time. And I keep in mind that this method of learning is quite difficult, therefore we must realize ourselves if we are lacking in something. I need to pay more attention to my body; it gets weary and needs to relax as well. We must accept our troubles and difficult times since embracing them leads to happiness, and without these challenges, we cannot enjoy pleasure. Happiness cannot be felt 24/7. It's okay to feel down. The idea that you need to be happy all the time is unrealistic. If you demand the happiness to stay longer than what it's supposed to, you are turning happiness into unhappiness or pleasure into pain. In other words, flow with life, the more you resist things inside your mind, the more pain you'll feel. Life is never constant, it's always changing, just like how you feel. So what's the best thing to do? Flow with the river, keep going, keep working on yourself, you're going to be okay.
Maybe you are already exhausted in fb posts that says βDonβt give upβ, βproud ako sa βyoβ, and most popularly βPadayon!β. If I were you, I would give up and come to a halt. If you know you're not excellent at something, you should quit doing it. Don't push yourself too much. Don't be too hard on yourself since you don't have the obligation to impress anyone or do what they say. These remarks frequently said that simply allowing the pressure to build up would result in the Pygmalion Effect. The Pygmalion effect describes situations where someone's high expectations improve or worsen our behavior and therefore our performance in a given area. It suggests that we do better when more is expected of us. We shouldn't follow βPadayon!β instead we give ourselves rest.
